The classic mistake is wanting to look unrecognisable. But photos last, and in ten years it is you people should recognise. A trial is there for exactly that: checking that the person in the mirror is still you.

How to choose your hair and makeup

  1. 1Do the trial in real conditionsSame time of day, same light, and take a photo on your phone. The camera is the judge, not the mirror.
  2. 2Plan the real timingHair and make up take two to three hours for the bride, plus an hour per companion.
  3. 3Test the outfitA beautiful hairstyle can be wrecked by pulling the dress on. Run the trial in the order of the day.
  4. 4Plan for touch-upsAn evening lasts twelve hours. Ask for a touch-up kit, or a second visit.
  5. 5Change nothing three weeks beforeNo new colour, no new cut, no new treatment. That is when surprises happen.

  • Is the trial run included, and how many do you plan for?
  • Do you travel to where we are getting ready?
  • How long for the bride, and for each person joining her?
  • Do you provide a touch-up kit for the evening?
  • What happens if you are unable to come on the day itself?
