Cookie policy

This policy describes the cookies placed on wewed.be, their purpose, how long they are kept, and how you can change your preferences.

Updated 23 August 2026 7 sections

1What is a cookie

SummaryA file that lets the site recognise you from one page to the next.

A cookie is a text file placed on your device, computer, tablet or phone, when you visit a website. It keeps certain information from one page to the next and from one visit to the next: your session, the language displayed, and the preferences you have expressed about cookies themselves.

Some are placed by wewed.be, others by third-party services the site relies on, in particular to display the map and to measure audience. Section 5 sets them out in detail.

2Cookies placed

SummaryFour categories. Two are necessary for the site to work, two require your consent.

The table below summarises the cookie categories present on wewed.be, their purpose, their retention period and whether they require consent.

Category Purpose Retention Consent required
Operation Keeping you signed in, remembering the language and your cookie preferences. Session to 12 months No, strictly necessary
Audience measurement Measuring visits, pages viewed and errors encountered. Up to 13 months Yes
Advertising Measuring the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and limiting how often an ad is repeated. Up to 3 months Yes
Display Displaying the vendor map and loading the site fonts. Session No, required for display

No data is sold. The information you enter in your planning space, date, budget, guest list, is not used for advertising and does not leave your account.

3Managing your preferences

SummaryYour preferences can be changed at any time, from the banner or from your browser.

On your first visit, a banner collects your consent. Declining takes one click, just like accepting, and does not affect how the site works.

Changing your preferences

  • From the consent banner, when it is shown to you again.
  • From your browser settings, which let you delete cookies already placed.

Where to find these settings

  • Chrome : Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies.
  • Firefox : Settings, then Privacy and security, then Cookies and site data.
  • Safari : Settings, then Privacy.
  • Edge : Settings, then Cookies and site permissions.

Deleting the operational cookies signs you out and brings the banner back, since the site no longer holds your preferences.

4Retention periods

SummarySession cookies, deleted when the browser closes. Persistent cookies, 13 months at most.

A session cookie is deleted when the browser closes. A persistent cookie stays on your device until it expires or until you delete it.

For cookies requiring consent, the retention period does not exceed 13 months, after which consent is collected again. This is the period recommended by the Data Protection Authority.

5Third-party services

SummaryHosting, mapping, fonts and audience measurement. These services receive your IP address.

Running wewed.be relies on third-party services. Some are needed to display the site, others to understand how it is used.

  • Hosting of data and photographs. The servers are located in the European Union.
  • The vendor map. Provided by a mapping service, which receives your IP address when the map is displayed.
  • The fonts. They are loaded from a distribution service.
  • Audience measurement and advertising measurement. Handled by third-party tools, which place the cookies described in section 2.

These services have their own privacy policies and we do not control the cookies they place. The detailed list is available on request.

6Your rights

SummaryAccess, rectification, erasure, portability, objection. Free of charge, answered within one month.

The General Data Protection Regulation gives you the following rights over the personal data collected, including through cookies.

  • Access : to know what data is processed about you.
  • Rectification : to have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Erasure : to request deletion of your data.
  • Portability : to receive your data in a usable format.
  • Objection : to object to a processing operation, in particular for direct marketing.

These requests are free and answered within one month. If the answer does not satisfy you, you may lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Authority, rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, the competent authority in Belgium.
